Our tour guide, translator, chef and friend Jorge Mario. He has become like family to us . He started with us when we moved to Guatemala and he had NO idea what he was getting into !! :)

Trying to find Jutiapa

The twins were born in Moyuta, Jutiapa

Scenery of Jutiapa

It is very hot and dry in jutiapa. It is considered the "wild west" of Guatemala. The men are very "machismo" (sp?)

They stopped and ate at a restuarant in Moyuta

How cool is that !!??

This is the road heading to the village of Salamar where the twins were born

A store in Salamar

One part of the story I forgot to mention is that we were told that the Bmother was from El Salvador. Which makes perfect sense because from the house where the babies were born you can see the border. I am still not sure if I have absorbed all of this :) All of you with Jutiapa babies .... feel free to copy these pictures !! I will post a slideshow with the pictures of Quiche (where Mark went to prepare for a June mission trip our church will be taking ) later.

Katie...those pictures are AWESOME!!! I'm so glad you have them to share with your kiddos. Mark and Jorge Mario rock. I'm not sure I would have had the guts to knock on that door!!!
SO COOL!!!
Love the photos!

Wow - Katie! Those are great pictures! You can really get a feel for the area.
Thank you again for sharing such an amazing story!
WOW!! Love the pictures! The twins will love those when they get older!! I was lol about the "get away" pic --- there was a guy riding behind them on horseback. In "HOT PURSUIT", maybe? Much love - Bamagirl!!!

WOW! How incredible and what a gift to your babies, as they grow older and understand more! Thanks for sharing that with us!
Katie, what an amazing blessing for the twins and your family to have all these pictures and the additional information on their birth story. Truly, you're a wonderful family! God Bless!

Katie, that is so cool you were able to get those pictures for the twins, that is wonderful that you will have those for them when they are old enough to understand. Isabella is from Guat city and that obviously is easy to document and Gabrielle was born in Mixco, I have pictures of signs etc but nothing really significant.
Katie, thanks so much for sharing these pictures and your story. I love seeing any part of Guatemala! Glad you got answers to questions for your family and the twins.
Katie - Thank you so much for sharing your story and the pictures. It will be good for the twins to see these pictures. As I read and looked at the pictures I was holding my breathe. It must have been very emotional for you and your husband but I am glad you got some answers.
As a Mommy to a Jutiapa boy I thank you very much for sharing the pictures. John was born in Atescatempa - also a border town with El Salvador and I wondered about his birthmother since I never received a cedula. Maybe now is the time to try to get more answers for my son as well.
