The Most Important Things I learned in the past TWO years :

1. The hole in my heart from "seeing what I saw" in Guatemala will never fill up but only get bigger.

2. God is with us

3. Culture Shock is so intense and it feels like a massive overload of all the emotions combined

4. Learning to F.ully R.ely O.n G.od is the most challenging but most rewarding faith building tool.

5. I will never fully recover from my culture shock and thank God for that. He has opened the eyes of my whole family .

6. God is with us
HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!!

And I leave you with one of my all time favorite pictures

Arianna not missing out on anything and Brayden just snoozing away. Guess who was up until MIDNIGHT last night and guess who was snoozing !!???? :)

We were at the Marriott in Guatemala City last Christmas also. We had a picture taken in front of the same Christmas tree. We were there for two weeks to spend the holidays with Nora. I wish we had met.

What an amazing year you have had and a wonderful and eye opening experience of living in Guatemala. My greatest regret is not seeing more of John's birth country (the good and the bad) on my two trips to Guatemala.

Have a Happy New Year!!

The last picture is so cute!!! My how they have changed the past year.

What we see and learn from Guatemala changes us. We are never the same. Only those who have experienced it can understand it. My heart is heavy today with the current situation.

Happy New Year!!

What fun! Thanks for the year in review - all four of your children are beautiful. I wish I had spent more time in Guat - I pray the Lord leads me there again- soon! Happy New Year!

What beautiful pics! It's amazing to see the changes one year can bring. And how some things don't change - I can't believe how much Arianna hasn't changed, only gotten bigger. :)

This post is so full of wonderful memories and made me cry and I love your thoughts. So true. Living in Guatemala for any amount of time is an eye opening experience. It is so special that you were able to share it with so much of your family. I love the all time favorite photo.

spending time in any 3rd world country can be quite shocking and so dreadfully painful. It's hard to imagine that for them it is a way of life. Why can't we do more?!
