Mark and I had the honor of being sponsors in a wedding this weekend of our friends from Mexico . It is so neat to learn the different parts of the hispanic culture. Although it is hard with the language barrier :)

awwwww.....so happyEDITED TO ADD Okay I will explain how Mark and I got involved. This family is a family that attends our church and that we help out with our hispanic ministry. The whole family ( 9 people) live in a small 2 bedroom house , so our ministry helps them out with food and rent from time to time. Anyways a few weeks ago the brides mother ( in the 5th picture down) was involved in a bad car accident. Our church had to help them alot throughout this with rides to doctor and translation (or trying to) . So I got to know the family pretty well. Fast foward to last week I get a call from the daughter asking if I would be the "madrina" AKA godmother of the wedding. Because of the language barrier I still don't really know what that meant but they just told Mark and I to walk up holding the candles..... I should really research it and see what it means :) So the ceremony was pretty much the same other than the "madrina" which I had never heard of. The reception was awesome ... the hispanics cooked us Fajitias that were so good. They did a tradition that the bride stand on a chair and everyone walks in a circle around her dancing. And then all the couples switch partners to dance with them.
One more thing that was awesome is that the bride called me last week to go and help her find a dress. I asked her how much money she could spend and she said $30. I panicked knowing the least you could probably find one for is $100. So as I was talking to one of my friends from my church she said the bride could try hers on to see if it fit to borrow. So we brought her over there and guess what it fit PERFECT !!! So then she had the $30 to spend on accesories. GOD IS GOOD !!!

Katie, just want to let you know that the bride's maid/matron of honor is referred to as la madrina. So it is a nice honor that this woman bestowed on you. Love all the pictures. What a special occasion!
